Chet Davis was born in Ashland, PA, in 1952. He resides and maintains a studio in the small, central Pennsylvania village of Paxinos.
He graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a B.S. in art education in 1973, and received his master’s degree from the Hartford Art School, University of Hartford in 1980.
Chet’s paintings and drawings have won international, national, and regional recognition. He just recently exhibited in an American/Dutch invitational at the Van Gilst Galery in Holland.
Closer to home, he has had one man exhibitions at the Bradley Academy for the Visual Arts, Lock Haven University's Sloan Hall Gallery, the Rose Lehman Center Gallery of Harrisburg Area Community College, Chambers Gallery at Penn State University, and the Markle Gallery of the Hazleton Art League, to name a few. He is scheduled for a one man exhibition at Bloomsburg University's Haas Gallery for the Spring of 2005.
Paintings by Chet have twice been exhibited at the State Museum of Pennsylvania, and his list of invitationals include exhibits at the William Ris Gallery of Camp Hill, the Erie Museum of Art, Indiana University’s Kipp Gallery, Bloomsburg University’s Haas Gallery, the Doshi Center for Contemporary Art, and the Northumberland County Council for the Arts.
He has won numerous honors, including awards from the Hazleton Art League, the Art Association of Harrisburg, the Susquehanna Art Society, the Allied Artists of Schuylkill County, and the Lewisburg Arts Council. Chet is a listed artist in the Artists’ Bluebook 2003 and AskArt.com.
Chet’s work hangs in public and private collections across the country and in Sweden, Holland, and England. His art can be found in collections of the Hazleton Art League, the Hoagannes Corporation, Bloomsburg University, Lock Haven University, PAPT Services Inc., and the William Ris Gallery.
He currently teaches art for Alvernia College and Luzerne County Community College and is represented by the William Ris Gallery of Camp Hill.
